THE UNFOLDING CINEMA

The idea for this project developed through further investigation during the Leigh-On-Sea project. I wanted to bring Leigh-On-Sea to Southend through an abstract cinema. My site was located at Southend central railway station. This is a popular place for people coming in and out of Southend which would bring more attention to my cinema. When analysing my Leigh-On-Sea project, I noticed how my design looked as if it was melting off of the original fish and chip shop's facade. This then influenced the aesthetic of my cinema which would have indoor and outdoor screens whilst also bringing in those social and dining spaces from the previous project.
